Alive 9
Preview of

Super Cars II STE

Another vapourware project was started by Schemantix/Stax(?) with a posting at
the dhs scene bbs:

Hi all,
does anyone fancy SuperCars 2 enhanced for the STe or Falcon ? I've only just
started this project in ASM and are currently sorting out the Title Screen
featuring the MOD from the Amiga version. What I really need is an assembly
programmer willing to write the level code and an artist to enhance the levels.
Tell me if anyone is interested. It would be nice to see this game revamped
do you think?
                                                          Scheme
It was followed one day later by the following one:

As Things go I've written the initial pictures into the prog, Gremlin, Woolwich
ad (sucks) and am now at the SuperCars 2 title screen where the music kicks
in. I really would like some help in developing TCB tracker routine to be
used as a |JSR PLAY | JSR STOP | if anyone has the time. Its a tracker
i'm familiar with and the only one i know for sure works on STE and STFM
without dying ;)

And surprisingly the very same day a demo of SuperCars II STE was announced:

Hey, i did this one for myself :))) no help needed, thanx anyways

Ok, this PRG shows the first three screens, plays the music in STe or normal,
just press space to exit. btw, i know i want to fade each picture ;) tell me
whether its any good or not pls.

The demo was merely a slideshow of three pictures. It displayed a gremlin logo,
a magnetic fields logo and finally a Super Cars II logo. The code seems to be
assembled in a hurry since there wasn't even time to hide the mouse. You can
easily check it yourself by moving the mouse while either of the pictures is
displayed. Needless to say that the pictures are just flipped in, there is no
fader or any effect to make a smooth transition. However while the last screen
is displayed an Amiga tracker module is replayed.

Personally I doubt we will ever see much more of the game than this little
screen since we all know Scheme. But you never know :) Besides according to some
rumours it seems Bod/Stax had taken over the project but then someone posted
something about Grand Theft Auto being better, so Bod is now working on
something based on GTA. Anyway Supercars II is on hold or more likely cancelled.
So we can stop this preview right here ;)
